| Furnace rollers with plasterm® coating may be used in the steel industry (steel strip production), in the glass industry (flat glass), and in the nonferrous metal industry (annealing of various flat components). They are used under a wide range of different conditions, i.e., |
| furnace temperature up to a max. of 1300 °C |
| oxidising, inert or reducing atmospheres |
contact with scale and various chemicals
| The most important characteristics of a plasterm® coating are: |
| protection against wear |
| protection against contamination |
protection of the product from damage thanks to its smooth surface
| Layer thicknesses may be from 0.1 mm up to approx. 5.0 mm. |
| By milling or grinding, the surface roughness required (Rzmin = 15 µm) can be achieved. |
| Standard plasterm® coatings contain aluminium oxide or zirconia oxide as the main components. Depending on the basic material of the roller and the application, the coating can be refined using MgO, SiO2, TiO2 or Y2O3. |
